fantasy over rambutans ever wondered how the very first few people of earth found out what fruits were good to eat?i mean they they just taste poison lily and came back with discolouration on their lips, fell ill a few minutes later and dropped dead a few more hours later, and then they would declare that fruit/food (or whatever you call it) is BAD? i mean how'd they know which fruits were good and edible? i mean we have some crazy looking fruits that actually taste pretty good. take rambutans for example. imagine this: you are living in a bout eons ago, and you're taking a walk down the forest (or what seems to be all around you) and you look up this tree. you see this round, red and hairy looking thing hanging down from a tree. i mean who in the right mind would think that something inside that horrible looking thing is edible. eww. and how do you know how to eat it? how do you know if you have to peel the hairy stuff out to get the good stuff? its weird right? how DID those people know? and don't forget durians. okay, so they may have fallen down from the trees and they were opened. but then, who would think that something inside a thorny, 'horrible' smelling thing would even possibly taste good? maybe people who first started eating rambutans and weird looking stuff were desperate. maybe they were close to starvation or something and it was either a chance at the horrible looking fruit or die. i'm obssesed with this idea. i still can't imagine why anyone in the right frame of mind would possibly try eating an ugly looking fruit. what about chillies? they didn't cook then did they? so they just pluck them off and eat it plain? that might be quite a good sight. hahas. i can just imagine it in my mind. this is nuts. what about potatoes? hoe'd they know to dig underground for stuff like that? and how'd they know thich leaves of certain plants were good for consumption? how'd they know which were vegetables, which were spices and which were strictly for dying stuff? if it was trial and error then many people must have died. then why didn't they just stick with animals? wouldn't that have been easier? or was vegetables discovered much much later? it's madness. pure madness. i'm not tired and many thoughts are running through my mind. |
